Ladybug Luck

Lady Bug Luck is an original oil pastel drawing. I’ve really tried to capture the fun and playfulness of that feeling when you find a lady bug in the garden as a child. I’ve decided on an abstract, geometric, roughly scribbled background to further capture that childlike expression.

This drawing was inspired by the symbolism of ladybugs. At this point of time for me I had ladybugs popping up everywhere. On my car and even on my clothes and after not having seen these little creatures for years it got me thinking about the symbolism of them being lucky. These were a focus in my process for a while until the creation of this work.
