Growing Light

Growing Light is an original oil pastel drawing. I’ve chosen to follow a more realistic colour palette. In the past when I’ve painted or drawn sunflowers, I’ve taken more creative liberties in terms of colour and composition but with this drawing in particular I wanted to really capture the beauty of a full sunflower field with all the bright yellows, greens and blues. I’ve still leaned in to my expressive style by adding a more vibrant orange to the flowers and a teal mixed in with the greens. The rich colours and texture really elevates this piece.
