Caught Together

Caught Together is an original oil pastel drawing. These three vibrant snappers I chose to render in a strong orange, red and yellow against an olive background to really make the subject pop. Each fish has subtly different markings and colouring which invites the viewer to look closer. At first glance they look the same but the longer you look at the drawing the more you start to see the differences. 

This artwork wasn’t inspired by a specific moment or reference but I had just bought a new set of oil pastels and so this was created just through experimenting and getting to know the colours and texture.
